They say that getting there is a powerful experience. That the roads are slippery and dangerous, and that you will have to go through SIX mountain passes, each one is higher than the other (reaching more than 5000m/16,500ft’).
Everything they say is true. and I guess that’s why many families decide to avoid going here.
Ladakh is an AMAZING region high up in north of India, sitting at 3500m’ altitude (at the capital city, Leh).
And if there is a place that can take the kids eyes out of their screens for few minutes- it is Ladakh. rivers and waterfalls, mountains at different colours and textures- green, purple, red, blue. small mud-homes villages, old Buddhist temples, and beautiful people. And of course, lots of salty tea :-).
I stayed in Ladakh with the kids for two months and had an extraordinary experience.
